Letter from the DG
31st December 1987

Dear Peter,

I know that you will be retiring from the Association today after nearly 33 years service and I am writing to thank you, both personally and on behalf of the Association, for all that you have done for the organisation and its members during this long period.

Since you first joined the Association there has been continual change. What has not changed is the regard in which all our staff are held by the public and our members in particular. That such a high reputation exists is due to the loyalty and devotion to duty which has been shown by so many members of that staff, particularly those who, like yourself, have such a long record of service. Your own experience in the Association has been a noteworthy one particularly in that you have experienced considerable changes to the ways in which we keep information and the presentation of that information to our members. This is exemplified by the new and very comprehensive European routes database system, which you have led throughout its development and installation phases.

I would like to wish you and Mrs O'Sullivan many happy years of retirement, coupled with my best wishes for continued activity. We shall always be pleased to hear from you and I hope you will find it possible to attend the parties that are held to let our retired staff keep in touch with friends in the AA.

Yours sincerely
Simon Dyer,
Director General.
