Goodbye

It was a very nice, sunny Saturday,
having a really enjoyable lunch and afternoon.
We all enjoyed our get-together, but then
all too soon, it was time to say farewell.

Farewell, my friends, fare thee well.
The elements be kind to thee, and make
Thy spirits all of comfort: fare thee well.

(According to William Shakespeare)

Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I'll miss you
Until we meet again!

But now that several of us are octogenarians
it may no longer be that easy to travel to Godstone.
Mind you, some of us are still doing very well.
Margot is very active, but please no more
skipping down the stairs, better to keep to the
dancing on a Hayling Island beach.

Try to Remember

"Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh so mellow
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain so yellow
Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a young and a callow fellow
Try to remember and if you remember
Then follow--follow, oh-oh."

(Lyrics by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt)

Be well, do good work, and keep in touch.

And finally an Irish Blessing:
A sunbeam to warm you,
A moonbeam to charm you,
A sheltering angel, so nothing can harm you.

End of the 2010 get-together.
